Karim Yousry Wins Francesca Lombardo's ‘Wanna Dance’ Remix Competition

Over two months ago, Francesca Lombardo, the world-renowned techno producer/DJ and founder of Echolette Records, announced a remix competition, inviting artists from across the globe to reimagine her latest track ‘Wanna Dance’, where the winner will get the opportunity to be featured on Echollette’s upcoming VA compilation that would be released both digitally and on vinyl.

Egyptian DJ Karim Yousry took a leap of faith and holed up in the studio for two months to put his own spin on Lombardo’s ‘Wanna Dance’, which led to an unrivalled remix of the track’s deep house production, which got him selected as one of the winning entries in the competition.

For nearly two decades now, Karim Yousry has been behind the decks, warming up and closing after international names including Nick Warren, Citizen Kain, Ramiro Lopez, and Mark Knight.

His remix of Lombardo’s ‘Wanna Dance’, mastered by Sentio, is a refreshing take on the original production, weaving groovy house with futuristic atmosphere imbued with melodic patterns and fleeting electro-tinged synths.  Besides winning the competition, Yousry’s remix of ‘Wanna Dance’ has also been supported by a slew of global DJs, the likes of Marco Carola, Richie Hawtin and Paco Osuna. It will be officially released soon as part of Echollette Records’ upcoming VA compilation.
