El Masreyeen & Molotof Team Up: A Generational Sound Collision
Hani Shenouda and El Masreyeen join forces with Molotof to fuse Egypt’s musical legacy with its underground future.

Something is cooking in the studio: a rare collaboration between two distinct musical worlds. Hani Shenouda and his iconic band El Massrieen are teaming up with Molotof, Cairo’s groundbreaking producer known for reshaping mahraganat and electronic music.
For decades, El Massrieen shaped the sound of modern Egypt with their melodic, richly arranged pop. Shenouda’s compositions gave Arabic music a modern edge. Molotof, meanwhile, has carved a path through Cairo’s underground with collaborations with the biggest artists in the scene like Marwan Pablo, Wegz, and Ziad Zaza.
“This song is a reimagined track from El Massrieen,” Molotof shares. “I’m going to be producing it and giving a twist to Hany Shenouda’s iconic music.”
But beyond the production, this collaboration merges the creative energies of two generations, each rooted in a different chapter of Egypt’s musical evolution.
“I loved working with him, and with Mona from El Massrieen who is going to be singing,” Molotof continues. “It’s a collaboration between generations. I’ve loved their work for ages, they always blend music from the West and the East with a new twist, and it felt relevant to me.”
“I’m so happy and honoured with this collaboration, it’s gonna be a surprise,” he adds. “I loved hanging out with Hany, he’s so funny and open to new ideas.”
Together, they’re reworking what Egyptian musical history sounds like in the now.
