Ganoob, a newly launched Cairo-bred collective, is set to host its first listening session in Downtown Cairo on May 2nd, marking its official launch as a platform, is uniting diggers, DJs, and collectors to exchange music discoveries from the Global South and beyond.

Hosted in collaboration with creative studio Samak Laban, the listening session will spotlight the breadth of Egyptian music from the 1970s, played exclusively on tape and vinyl from the archive of local record collector and selector. Zeyad. 

The event also features sets from Ganoob’s residents, Mahmoud El Shabba, Boody and Zeyad himself, who will look digging into rare and overlooked cuts from Egypt’s most prolific musical decades, alongside food and drinks from Samak Laban’s kitchen.
