After their latest stand-out release on the highly esteemed German label Traum Schallplatten, whose catalogue features renowned artists like Max Cooper and Kepler, The Meteors Project drop Fractals EP on their hometown record label, Besworx, one of the few consistent electronic music labels in the region. The EP includes two original tracks from the Egyptian duo and enlists three remixers to reinterpret this experiment, each bringing out his different personality through a remix.

Exploring a housier sound with a lot of broken beats, Gaser and Zanfally’s new approach is obvious on the B-side of the EP, “Behind Closed Eyelids.” Breaks with big pads carrying the grandeur of trance that will melt you in front of the sound system, until the kicks come in and the mood flips from wet to dry. The title track of the EP “Fractals” also shares the same aesthetic, except for some arpeggiated sounds floating on top of the bass-heavy grooves, giving it an astral feel. Shunus’ interpretation of “Fractals” even took it to dreamier places, with a much slower BPM. The British producer heavily relies on melodies, delivering a solid deep house production. Another remixer that outdid himself on the EP is Egypt’s Richard R, who delivers a much more mature sound with each release. His remix is a quality melancholic track, that can work in a club or a normal listening environment. DJs looking for club stomping tunes should cue up on Balbaa’s remix for Fractals, who turned the soaring original into a late night weapon.
