Gharam Electric Channels Arabic Poetics on Synth-Pop Track 'Alsana Di'
Released as the second single from the Lebanese artist's upcoming album, Afterlove, the track draws on the emotional language of classic Arabic love poetry.
After laying the sonic groundwork for his highly anticipated sophomore album Afterlove with lead single ‘Yom Lek W Yom Alek’, Gharam Electric, the solo project of Lebanese producer, vocalist, and nightlife pioneer Wassim Bou Malham, returns with ‘Alsana Di’, a deeper dive into the project’s synth-pop universe.
Built around the same understated energy that defined the album’s first glimpse, ‘Alsana Di’ pairs expressive Arabic vocal phrasing with synth-driven production, a minimalist beat anchored by crisp snares and hi-hats, and a bubbling bassline that nods to the nostalgic pulse of independent dance music. Atmospheric synth pads and subtle vocal processing push the track beyond conventional pop territory, giving it a distinctly alternative edge. Midway through, the song breaks open into an instrumental passage where cascading synth arpeggios take the lead, before folding back into its smoother, vocal-led rhythm.
Lyrically, ‘Alsana Di’ captures one of the album's rare moments of warmth and devotion, exploring the feeling of complete romantic surrender and the idea of love as a refuge from the outside world. Drawing from the emotional language of classic Arabic love poetry, Bou Malham trades grand declarations for something more immediate, a modern portrait of intimacy and emotional security.
‘Alsana Di’ further sharpens Gharam Electric’s identity: a meeting point between Arabic melodic sensibilities, club-rooted instincts, and spacious electronic production. It’s a track that feels equally suited to headphones and dancefloors, finding its energy in the space between the two.
