Begad is an emerging hip-hop artist out of Cairo whose sound has undergone various transformations throughout his career. From hard-hitting drill tracks to catchy trap flows, the rapper has demonstrated his adaptability along his previous releases. However, in his latest album, Welad El 7ara, Begad’s tone changes from his usual boastful flare to one of honest reflection, as the artist looks back on his upbringing, and how his family and community in El Marg have inspired the songwriting on his new album.
SceneNoise sits down with Begad to gain more insight on his latest project, which tugs at the listener’s heartstrings with vulnerable lyricism and even contains messages that Begad directs to his mother, father, and friends, whose life experiences have heavily influenced the project. Begad also tells us how he started making music in highschool, participating in contests and rapping over his classmates beatboxing to ultimately discover his undeniable talent and passion for music.
