Psytrance: A Peek Into the Extraterrestrial Music Invading Egypt
Aliens didn't invent the pyramids, but they might have given us psytrance.
People are different. Some faster and others slower, some dark and others joyful. Music can sometimes be perceived as a representation of the vast and versatile realm of humans, and the emotion they feel and try to convey to others. Styles like house and techno ranges from a speed of 115 bpm to 135 bpm. As the name suggests, psytrance places a strong emphasis on psychedelic elements, and a speed much faster (150bpm) than these widespread electronic genres.
Aside from the images that come to mind of rave-mad barefoot hippies kung fu dancing into the forest on acid, we’re not that sure what psytrance is exactly, and you’re not sure what it is, so we went to find out by speaking to the crew trying to make the genre a thing in Egypt.
