Taken from Canada-based Kuwaiti producer Talal (a.k.a CH4INS4W)’s genre-hopping 2019 album Turbo Apocalypse, ‘Rush Hour’ was one of the harder offerings on the project, bringing together gritty synth licks, distorted wobble-bass, and a healthy dose of breakbeats.
Through a frantic barrage of edits, anime-inspired visual effects, and washed over by splash of digital fuzz, the comedic video features a cadre of Ch4ins4aw’s friends cast as a “professional german stunt team” ‘Y-Team’ giving their best attempt at amateur parkour while generally hooliganing around an unnamed german city.
Behind the clearly ironic intention behind the video, the viewing experience for the ‘Rush Hour’ is actually kind of fun, with the visual effects and edits being timed to the action really intentionally, adding a sort of meta-narrative to the groups shenanigans.
‘Y-Team’ continuously up their antics as time goes on, and by the end of the video you really start to feel for the team and the amount of physical effort that went into making the ‘Rush Hour’ video happen.
