Not just any house and techno night, Unfamiliar showcases female artists who are at the forefront of electronic music's fast-paced evolution, and are wholly dedicated to the discovery of untraversed sounds. For over two years, split between Cairo and Berlin, Unfamiliar's events have featured sets from house/techno veteran Julietta, funk-fuelled DJ Anthea, and percussive-house mogul Sylvie Foret, among many more.
Unfamiliar's upcoming edition, taking place this Thursday at the Unicorn Garden Warehouse, will open with Cairo's experimental electronic DJ Habiba, followed by the visual artist and hip hop/industrial house DJ Malak Helmy. Both artists have a boundless approach to music, incorporating elements of house, hip hop, breakbeat and the occasional left-field pop. Next up, globally-renowned underground DJ and the Unfamiliar founder herself Zeina will take to the decks. Last but not least, resident DJ of Barcelona's highly-rated Macarena club, ISAbella, aka Mistress, will be dispensing her signature movers and shakers.
