In the second edition of our Verses of the Month list, we comb through hip-hop releases across the MENA region to pick the best verses based on lyrical skill, flow, delivery and technique. This edition highlights standout verses from Thawra, Al Darwish and Abyusif.
Al Darwish delivers one of the most impressive verses we’ve encountered this month - possibly even this year - with a 1:30-minute barrage of punchlines, double entendres and sharp one-liners. His flow is aggressive and hard-hitting, featuring multiple delivery techniques and seamless flow switches.
Meanwhile, Syrian artist Thawra opens her latest track, ‘Basira’, with a deeply emotional verse that showcases her artistic depth and heartfelt lyricism. The verse offers a reflective exploration of Thawra’s inner emotions, delivered with relaxed flows and a subtle yet powerful emotional punch.
Also on the list is a commanding verse from Abyusif on the track ‘1M’ from Omar Gangster’s debut album, ‘Ebn El Mansoura’. In this verse, Abyusif is at his best, taking direct shots at the industry and affirming his status as the top MC, backed by complex rhyme schemes and varied cadences.
Thawra - Basira
Al Darwish - Sersa3jari
Ahmad Santa - Please
Abyusif - 1M
