Toola Turns Up the Mischief with Playful House EP ‘Wunga’

LA-based Egyptian DJ/producer, Toola, has marked his arrival on Misty’s Love Attack record label roster with a new, feel-good house EP, Wunga.

Across three cuts, Toola blends piano-driven dancefloor energy with acid-licked grooves, flowing from deep rolling stompers to bright, sun-soaked floorfillers that feel as if built for late-night club momentum as much as for daytime highs.

‘Brazilian Sunday’ is a wobbly groover that has a distinctive squelchy sound with minimalist rhythmic structures driven by warm synths. Midway through the track, there is a sample of crowd cheers that evokes a sense of '90s house raves.

‘Pussesse’, meanwhile, leans more on the funky side. A steady four-on-the-floor beat with crisp hi-hats carries the track’s structure, which is imbued with a French flirt, filtered vocal samples and a groovy disco sparkle that balances a retro feel with modern polish. It gets you lost in a requiem of a daydream caught between Paradise Garage and Crisco Disco in eighties New York. The title track, however, doubles down on both while incorporating a dramatic synth-heavy build-up that is perfect for a festival finale in the ungodly hours before dawn.

With Wunga, Toola leans into his mischievous side without losing his refined ear for groove and texture. It’s a record that doesn’t take itself too seriously, yet says plenty about where house music, and Toola himself, are headed: playful, unpretentious and deeply rooted in good summer vibes.
