Shuffle | Aug 13 - Aug 26
In this edition of of 'Shuffle', the playlist features new music from the likes of Wegz, Ziad Zaza and Zeina, as well as Saint Levant.
Over the past fortnight, a wave of new releases has emerged across the MENA region, spanning R&B, pop, indie rock and electronic music. In the latest edition of ‘Shuffle’, SceneNoise’s flagship bi-weekly multi-genre playlist, we round up the standout cuts, from Egyptian heavyweights like Wegz to regional favourites like Saint Levant, alongside rising names including Amaka Jaji and Kazdoura.
In Egypt, Wegz explores that fine-line when a heartbreak turns into a fuel for revenge on ‘El Ayah’, a laid-back, acoustic-driven pop track. Ziad Zaza teams up with Lebanese-Egyptian singer Zeina for the sultry, flirtatious ‘Wehyat 3yono’, while Bayou joins forces with Lella Fadda on ‘Naseeb’, a soulful Arabic R&B cut from his new album, BRINCE.
Jordanian indie duo Kazdoura premiere ‘Taa’ with an intimate performance for global music platform COLORS, while Moroccan artist MANAL delivers an irresistibly danceable summer bop with ‘Chouka’. Elsewhere, Palestinian-Algerian pop artist Saint Levant teams up with Mohammed Assaf on ‘Maskara’, a stirring tribute to Palestinian heritage featured on his new album, Afandi.
