Following the reflective timbre of 'Samrat Al-Ain' and the driving energy of 'Yama,' Cairo-based Libyan Tuareg artist, Amaka Jaji, delivers a battle-ready sound in the decidedly more intense third release on RAAD Records, ‘Sahrawi’.
Characterised by a powerful sonic duality riding a rhythmic conflict, the track synthesises churning, African-inspired rhythms with a stark, dark electronic production that leans into industrial texture. The result is an instrumental framework defined by tension, which is then cut through by Amaka’s soaring vocals.
'Sahrawi' serves as the final single before the full release of the Nghani Norqos w Nqatel EP, set for release on October 11th, and arrives as a decisive piece of contemporary North African music that positions Amaka as more than a singer paying homage to his roots; he is an interpreter.
