Rap of the Week | March 23 - March 30
The playlist features picks from some of the region's top-tier artists, including Inkonnu, Lil Baba and ISSAM.
Although Ramadan brought a slowdown in rap releases across the Middle East and North Africa, the post-Eid period has seen regional rappers return with a steady stream of new music, giving listeners a glimpse of what they’ve been crafting during the hiatus.
In the latest edition of our Rap of the Week playlist, the SceneNoise team highlights standout tracks from artists making waves across the region, including Inkonnu, Lil Baba, and ISSAM.
Moroccan hip-hop star Inkonnu finally drops his highly anticipated album SPLIT, featuring notable collaborations, most prominently with Egyptian rap heavyweight Marwan Moussa on the track ‘KEDA’. From North Africa, Algerian rapper Flenn delivers the punchy ‘Sorakh’, while Moroccan superstar ISSAM makes a bold sonic shift, trading his earlier sound for a modern Western rap edge on ‘Tattoo’.
The playlist also features Egyptian rapper-producer Lil Baba with the grungy-tinged ‘Yala Emshy’ from his latest EP, and hip-hop prodigy Hamza introduces himself with one of his first official releases, ‘Nenna’.
