With the current wave of Saudi-Sudanese hip-hop crossovers that has been gaining momentum in the music industry, Saudi rapper Ntitled has teamed up with Sudanese rapper Walgz for a joint EP titled ‘A7lam Al39r.’ The two artists deliver a five-track project that showcases their synergy, first explored on their previous collaboration, ‘Moya wa Zait’. In this EP, the duo delves deeper into their chemistry, set against a backdrop of diverse production choices.
The EP spans a range of hip-hop subgenres, unified by a relaxed vibe. The mellow instrumentation dominating the production creates a serene atmosphere, allowing the two rappers to explore reflective songwriting and laid-back performances. On the opening track, ‘Ba6a6een / Tomorrowland’, the two-in-one composition shifts between distinct beats with varying tempos and moods, driven by dynamic drum patterns and an intriguing selection of percussion instruments.
The songwriting leans in favour of Walgz, who showcases a more technically nuanced approach, while Ntitled focuses on delivering a vibe-oriented performance. This dynamic creates a subtle contrast throughout the EP while maintaining the synergy between the two. The project takes a more trap-driven direction on ‘Moya wa Zait’, with the previously released collaboration remastered to highlight a different transition midway through the EP.
Producer B-Element crafts one of the more standout beats on the outro track, ‘7amama’, where Ntitled and Walgz exchange bars with seamless flow, resulting in a highlight moment that concludes the EP on a strong note.
Overall, ‘A7lam Al39r’ is a solid release that emphasises the importance of joint projects - a concept that has become increasingly rare in the regional hip-hop scene.
