Having first made a name for herself promoting parties in Beirut in the 90s, British-Lebanese DJ, producer and award-winning radio presenter, Nicole Moudaber, has carved out quite the career. Her imprint, MOOD Records, has released work from the likes of Pan-Pot, Victor Calderone and the legendary Carl Cox, but the labels latest release sees Moudaber herself take centrestage.

Citing it as the most important release of her career, The Volume is a hard-hitting, two-track EP that takes listeners on a fast-paced, highly energetic and dark journey.  Kicking off with the title track launches the EP into a combination of groovy percussions, banging kicks and minimal melodic elements that sets the tone for the 13 minute run time of the EP. The x-factor in the track, however, is vocals by legendary Miami-based doorman and larger-than-life personality, Alan T., who brings his unique brand of flamboyance and charm to proceedings.

The second piece, ‘The Music is Mine’, is a decidedly darker excavation into peak-time techno. The track is even faster-paced than its predecessor and is defined by a spookier, much more aggressive feel with its nasty thumping kicks, trippy delayed vocals, and groovy panned lead stabs.

The release of the EP has been accompanied by a suitably colourful video for ‘The Volume’ that features Alan T. himself and needs little introduction - just press play and give yourself into it.
