SceneNoise x XP Conversations: AYN

Since discovering techno, the craft of DJing has never been about the mechanical act of beat-matching or the pursuit of a fleeting trend for AYN; it is an act of emotional communication. Born and raised in Jordan before finding her footing in the United States and the expansive club landscapes of Europe, her evolution into a techno favourite was less of a career choice and more of a homecoming to a sound she loved before she even had a name for it. This cross-continental upbringing has allowed her to synthesise a uniquely global perspective with a deeply rooted Middle Eastern identity, creating a musical language that speaks to the soul rather than just the dancefloor.

The core of an AYN performance is the journey - a concept she treats with sacred importance. She approaches her sets not as a collection of hits, but as a visceral narrative designed to bypass the intellect and strike the heart. It is a process so intense that she often finds herself on the verge of tears behind the booth, moved by the symbiotic relationship between a track and its successor.

Transitioning from a fan to a curator meant navigating the complexities of a region where DJing is often seen as an unconventional, if not controversial, space for a woman. When she first approached her parents with her aspirations, their initial hesitation was rooted in a protective misunderstanding of the industry's lifestyle. Yet, through a steadfast commitment to the purity of the art, AYN managed to peel back the layers of stigma, proving that her work was, and always will be, about the music.

In this installment of SceneNoise x XP Conversations, we speak to AYN about the vulnerability of the booth and her mission to build a lasting legacy for the regional scene.
