Kamikazem & Gello Decode Success on Collaborative EP 'El Ha2i2a Bayna'

Rising Egyptian rappers, Kamikazem and Gello, have teamed up for new concept EP, El Ha2i2a Bayna, a four-track exploration of brotherhood, ambition, and the shifting definitions of success. Across the EP, the duo trace their artistic journey and the stages of growth they’ve navigated together to chase their dreams in pursuing music.

The record blends various musical styles with hip-hop flows - think lo-fi, electronic shaabi rhythms, and funk. ‘Sahla’, one of the EP’s lead singles, is a lighthearted yet pointed meditation on the grind of artistic life, the endless loop of clocking in and meeting expectations to have a ‘successful’ career. The track is co-produced by Kamikazem and Gello’s long-time collaborators Mourad and Sintax, fusing Brazilian funk-inspired drum patterns with ominous melody carried out by spacey synths.

In contrast, ‘Abbas El Gen’ leans into street rap energy, opening with an Egyptian folk saying from the antagonist of the second Welad Rizk film. The song confronts survival in a materialistic, corrupt world, offering a sharp critique of capitalism and a society driven by personal gain over authentic human connection.

Ultimately, the EP sees Kamikazem and Gello redefine artistic success on their own terms, shaping an evolving sound grounded in personal experience rather than industry pressure or commercial expectations.
