For this week’s Select we have a mix from one of Cairo’s most promising young talents both in the studio and behind the decks. You might recognize the name Moenes from the roster of Cairo Jazz Club’s Hey DJ competition, but in no way shape or form was Hey DJ the beginning of Moenes’s connection to dance music. As a youngster he made the common pilgrimage most Egyptian house enthusiasts make to Sharm ElSheikh’s Pacha and he was immediately hooked. Fast forward a few years laters when he joined Epic 101’s music production course and almost immediately after signed of a few of his releases to Electrum Records, ICONYC, Make You Dance and Stellar Fountain. Enjoy this infectiously groovy, soulful and jazzy house mix from Moenes and don’t miss him at Cairo Jazz Club on the 19th of this month.
