Over the span of a few months, Egyptian audiovisual collective MOSHTRQ has quickly established themselves as one of the most exciting projects to come out of Cairo’s electronic underground, pushing a fresh sound that blends together a slew of dance floor focused genres like bass music, grime, rap, reggaeton, jungle, footwork, deconstructed-club and many more in between.
Comprised of members Postdrone, Ashrar, Ambi, Yaseen, Karim Serry, Belahadaf, and Balla3058, the collective has quickly been building a following through their monthly takeover of CJC Agouza, as well as through frequent gigs around Cairo at nights like Jellyzone and Flames.eg. MOSHTRQ’s diverse lineups have featured a rotating selection of the collective’s own members, as well as live acts and DJ sets from guests such as A7ba-l-Jelly, Oldyungmayne, Vli Weezy, and Shah of Kafr El Dauwar Records.
With their monthly takeover of Cairo Jazz Club’s Agouza location solidifying itself as one of the few consistent events pushing a forwards-thinking sound in the region, the crew has decided to up the scale for their latest show with a stellar selection of local musical and live visual acts, expanding to take over all aspects of CJC610’s spacious Sheikh Zayed location.
Kicking off at 4 PM, the all-day takeover is set to feature a stacked lineup of local DJs and selectors, beginning the day on the balcony with some inviting tunes, before shifting indoors at sunset and diving deep into bass-heavy dance floor madness in the main room. On the decks, keep an ear out for the likes of ZULI b2b Rama, Assyouti, $$$TAG$$$, Hassan Abou Alam, NourLeQ, WTTBH_V2.1, and extreme b2b featuring the entire MOSHTRQ crew.
In addition to an accompanying live visuals courtesy of Zeyna and ASLI, the event is also set to feature an indoor gallery and merch booth showcasing works by local artists Kafrawy, WeirDo, Dalila Hassanein, Aisha Azab, Habiba Haddara and ELHADAF, alongside a *extremely limited* merch drop made in collaboration with trailblazing local brand UNTY.
For those looking for one last taste of Cairo’s underground before summer season begins, this is not one to miss.
