Arabic Pop Meets Trance on New Simzii EP ‘Yours Truly’

Haifa-based producer, Simzii, has made his debut studio release with a two-track EP, Yours Truly, on UK-based imprint PTD Records. Blending soft-edged Arabic pop references with restrained trance production, the record reads like a love letter to his hometown.

Written over the past two years amid the devastating genocide of Palestine, Yours Truly is Simzii’s attempt to process grief, powerlessness and the fractured reality of daily life, while simultaneously highlighting the ever-glimmering sparks of hope and resistance of his land. The EP unfolds as a pair of understated sonic sketches, focused less on narrative resolution or escapism than on holding emotional weight without overstating it.

The title track is built around a steady trance pulse and warm, looping chords. Its structure is direct and uncluttered, allowing subtle vocal textures to carry a sense of nostalgia without tipping into sentimentality. It lands somewhere between an introspective dancefloor jam and a feel-good filler.

‘Haifa Says Hi’ shifts the tone slightly. Drawing on the aesthetics of Arabic pop, particularly the glamour associated with figures like Haifa Wehbe, the track reframes those references through light, playful synth work and buoyant progressions. It feels more conversational than referential, reconnecting pop memory to place without leaning heavily on homage.

Yours Truly places Simzii as a promising new voice within the Levantine dance music scene, thanks to a demonstrated ability to treat trance not as a means of escapism but as a vessel for memory, longing, and the possibility of healing.
