Gorillaz Drops New Single ‘Damascus’ ft. Yasiin Bey & Omar Souleyman
The track is part of the band’s upcoming album ‘The Mountain’, recorded across Damascus, London, Devon, Mumbai, and New York.
Globally acclaimed band Gorillaz have returned with a new single, ‘Damascus’, featuring Syrian dabke icon Omar Souleyman.
Co-written by Souleyman, New York rapper-singer Yasiin Bey - who also features on the track - and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn, the track fuses the band’s unmistakable alt-rock sensibility with Souleyman’s turbocharged dabke electronics and Bey’s sharpened East Coast verses. It feels unexpected yet entirely natural sonic experimentation for the Gorillaz.
Recorded across Damascus, London, Devon, Mumbai, and New York, the single expands the project’s global footprint while nodding to the cultural crosscurrents that have long defined Gorillaz’s sound. ‘Damascus’ arrives as the fourth preview of the band’s upcoming album, The Mountain, due in February 2026.
The record will feature 15 tracks, and an impressive lineup of collaborators and several voices of friends of the bands that have passed, including Bobby Womack, Dennis Hopper and Mark E Smith.
