SceneNoise x Power Horse x Maz Panel Spotlights Youth Club Culture

Cairo’s electronic music scene is a unique beast, a living, evolving ecosystem that is arguably at its most dynamic in its underground form. The future of that form is the topic of discussion on January 17th,  as SceneNoise teams up with Power Horse and Maz for a special panel focusing on the youth-driven movements currently reshaping the underground.

Taking place at Maz Market in Majjarah Mall, Sheikh Zayed, the day kicks off at 2PM with recorded DJ sets by Jess, Delrady, and Rajia, setting the backdrop for the core dialogue. At 5PM, the decks make way for an in-depth session that will see ScenNoise’s own Youssef Yasser moderate a panel featuring Marwan Geneidy, founder of party series and record label Playhaus; Aly B, veteran DJ and event curator; Mohamed Raouf, founder of event series Lazuli; and Jess, one of the rising DJs in the middle of this new wave in Cairo.

Together, the panel will unpack the shifting definition of a night out, moving beyond the dancefloor to explore the rise of soft clubbing and a growing rejection of destructive nightlife in favour of wellness-oriented or low-substance spaces. The conversation will also explore the new geography of where young Egyptians are congregating today, while examining how the perception of the DJ is evolving from a mere performer into a vital community curator. Beyond the music, the speakers will tackle the broader implications of the scene, from the intersection of fashion and self-expression to the critical importance of safety, consent, and navigating economic barriers like rising ticket prices.

As youth-led collectives continue to replace traditional organisers and labels, this exclusive gathering offers a look at the currents carrying the scene forward, addressing how a new generation is not only engaging with music and nightlife, but how they are making it theirs.
