Hassan Abou Alam Returns to Dutch Imprint Nerve Collect With EP ‘Insa’
The seven-track record expands further on the futuristic club rhythms of the Egyptian producer's 2024 record, Msh Mafhoom, featuring another collaboration with Ziad Zaza and Ismail Nosrat.
Egyptian producer Hassan Abou Alam has returned with a new EP, Insa, marking his second release on the Dutch imprint Nerve Collect. Spanning seven tracks, the record delivers another menacing blend of bass-heavy, forward-facing club music, propelled by relentless percussion - and another collaboration with Ziad Zaza and Ismail Nosrat.
The opening title track rides a buzzing sub-bass line, weaving together acrobatic drum patterns, freewheeling hits, and fragmented vocal snippets over sinewy synths that evoke a futuristic rush.
The second, ‘La3ba’, brings in Zaza and Nosrat, marking their second collaboration with Abou Alam following the trio’s standout 2024 cut, ‘Basha’. The track lands as a thumping club tune, pairing gritty rap bars and trippy ad-libs with a punchy, spiraling synth line.
Across the EP, Abou Alam pushes his sound into increasingly volatile territory. ‘Dilapidated Thoughts’ surges with liquid-metal textures and booming bass that warp into disorienting frequencies, while ‘Mahzooz’ unfolds as a near-improvised collage of charred breaks and restless synths, anchored by a buoyant low-end groove. Another highlight, ‘Wiskha’, stretches heavily syncopated drums and synths into sweeping, elastic arcs.
With Insa, Abou Alam further cements his place as a consistent standout in Egypt’s underground electronic scene. The EP captures club music in a state of constant mutation, visceral, unstable, and difficult to pin down, expanding on the sonic language he began refining on his 2024 record Msh Mafhoom.
