Here are MENA's standout new releases, spanning everything from Saint Levant's tarab-inspired ballad 'Sabah El Ward' to Khaled Ali's introspective R&B 'Ezay Ba3eesh'.
In this installment of SceneNoise’s bi-weekly playlist , Shuffle, we spotlight standout releases from across the region that landed over the past fortnight, spanning everything from Tarab-inspired ballads and dance-pop to house and leftfield electronica.
Palestinian artist Saint Levant takes a new musical turn on ‘Sabah El Ward’, reimagining the romance and instrumentation of classic Arab tarab through a contemporary lens, while Swiss-Moroccan rising star Sami Galbi joins forces with La Bava on the dance-pop leaning cut ‘Baby Volcano’. Elsewhere, Egyptian singer-songwriter Nourine Abouseada continues her recent exploration of Y2K-inspired pop on ‘Tab Eh?’.
The playlist also includes Khaled Ali with ‘Ezay Ba3eesh’, DAWI with house groover ‘Been Workin’, Ma-Beyn with an eerie, contemplative cut, ‘El7ala Wel7elm’, and Rolbac with a punchy, club-ready remix of Husa & Zeyada’s ‘Dawsha’.
