Rap of the Week | May 26 - June 1
Here are the standout cuts that defined the Eid holiday in the MENA hip-hop scene, with picks from Madd, Marwan Moussa, Abo El Anwar, and more.
Over the Eid break, the region’s rap scene stayed busy with a wave of releases from established heavyweights and rising names alike. In this instalment of Rap of the Week, we spotlight the standout cuts that defined the holiday weekend, featuring new music from Madd, Marwan Moussa, Abo El Anwar, and more.
Egyptian rapper Abo El Anwar unveiled his first full-length project of 2026, Kalam Mkntsh Haaolo - an EP that trades crowd-pleasing formulas for a more adventurous, sonically exploratory approach. Meanwhile, Marwan Moussa premiered his latest single, ‘Wathaeqy’, alongside a short film-inspired music video at Cairo’s Zawya Cinema, while Abyusif surprise-dropped BAL MASQUE, a three-track EP featuring collaborations with Lil Baba, Abo El Anwar, and Omar Taai.
Beyond Egypt, Tunisian rapper 4LFA joined forces with Catcher on the hard-hitting trap cut ‘FRESH’, while Moroccan rappers Ramoon, Madd, and 7ari linked up for ‘Lastique’, a cypher-style showcase built on sharp verses and collective chemistry.
