Alexandria-based rock band Khareg El Netak has released their debut album, ‘Kan Gowaya’. The album, which features eight tracks, leans heavily into the progressive rock genre, tackling themes of loss and uncertainty.
The title track, ‘Kan Gowaya’, is a ballad that reflects on internal struggles, setting the tone for the album’s exploration of personal challenges. The ‘Mahrok Men El Zekrayat’ track delves into the theme of running away from the past, while ‘Ayesh Ala Elly Kan’ portrays a character who is trapped in his memories, unable to break free from his past.
The album’s instrumentation is a key strength, particularly the guitar work by lead vocalist and guitarist Hesham Badr, which adds depth to the tracks. Additionally, the bass lines by Fares Mansour, who also contributes as a songwriter, provide a solid foundation that complements the overall sound, though the vocal delivery may come across as monotonous at times.
Khareg El Netak, formed in 2021, is a four-member band that initially made their mark with a self-titled debut EP. The release of ‘Kan Gowaya’ follows three singles dropped in 2023, marking a significant step in the band’s evolving musical career.
