In our second episode of ‘هندسة عكسية’ (‘NoiseBreakdown’) we feature Gelba, one of the most prominent producers in the Egyptian scene right now. Gelba is known for his extensive collaborations with fellow Ismailian rapper Mousv, working together on multiple projects. The producer has also established himself through various collaborations with different rappers in the scene. His heavy-shaabi production style mixes psychedelic instrumentation with trap and other hip-hop subgenres.

In this episode, we focus on his hit track with Mousv, ‘El Qowa’, which was released on Mousv’s second full-length album. The track stood out due to its eclectic shaabi production, coupled with Mousv’s mawwal-inspired delivery and flow. We got Gelba to break down the beat for us, guiding us through the sound selection process and how the idea came to life.
