Lebanese nightlife staple, Metro Al Madina, is hosting an all rap and hip hop showcase, ‘Alli El Sot’, on Saturday March 9th, spotlighting Arab talents from across the MENA region.
Metro is a cultural and entertainment centre based in Beirut, embracing a diverse community of nightlife enthusiasts, theatre aficionados, and music connoisseurs. Hosting over 2,500 performances over ten years, Metro strives to deliver accessible entertainment of high calibre, while remaining dedicated to its social and political commitments.
Alli El Sot’s lineup is set to highlight a robust array of regional artists who are set to showcase their musical prowess in a rap-heavy evening. The night will feature KAMIKAZEM, hailing from Cairo and known for his clever bars that navigate societal themes with a touch of humour. Joining him is Egyptian sound designer, Kubbara, offering expert audio production services from Studio Kubbara, alongside his talents as a pianist and DJ.
Amsterdam-based Thawra will then take to the stage, utilising music as a platform for personal expression and political commentary. From Beirut, BILLY TSTRK will bring his unique blend of Arabic rap and punk influences whereas Egyptian and Palestinian multi-disciplinary creative and rapper Ma-Beyn is set to blend experimental hip-hop with funk.
From Lebanon, Nuj will represent his local rap scene with poignant lyrics reflecting on societal challenges, whilst Lebanese rapper Sabine Salamé is set to showcase her evocative music which often delves into personal experiences and social issues. Palestinian beatmaker, SHLTF, will also join the performances, in light of his recent album ‘N7S’.
Rise 1969, with roots in the UK and Beirut, will guide his listeners through various music genres including punk, techno and ambient music. Finally, Amsterdam-based Noise Diva will offer an eclectic performance seamlessly merging her diverse musical influences.
