Thurston Moore and Bonner Kramer Announce Palestine Tribute Album

Thurston Moore, the frontman of the renowned 80s American rock band Sonic Youth, has teamed up with Bonner Kramer the acclaimed composer and record producer behind Galaxie 500, on a new collaborative album dedicated to the children of Gaza.

Titled They Came Like Swallows, the record unfolds as a series of requiems for Gaza’s children. Despite a friendship spanning more than four decades, this marks the duo’s first official collaboration. The LP began taking shape during a run of improvised winter sessions in Miami, where loose, exploratory exchanges gradually crystallised into something more deliberate and devotional.

“What transpired is They Came Like Swallows, a session we immediately felt should exist as a prayer to the war-torn souls of the families of Palestine, continually decimated by the brutality of genocide,” Thurston Moore stated in the album's announcement, “This album is our duo exchange for human dignity, it is our soul music for any semblance of a peaceful planet.”

The first track of the record, ‘Urn Burial,’ is a brooding, wiry instrumental built on slow-burning drones and frayed textures that channels grief and fury in equal measure.

They Came Like Swallows - Seven Requiems for the Children of Gaza is slated for release on May 1st.
