40+ Arab Artists Are Coming Together for a 24-Hour Live Fundraiser for Beirut

Organised by Róisín Tapponi, Hisham Fageeh and Tina Sayegh, the livestream is the latest show of support from the music and art fields and will feature film premieres, live DJ sets and podcast streams. Proceeds are set to be split across Beirut-based charities providing relief in the fallout of the devastating explosion that has rocked the Lebanese capital to its core.

Lebanon is in crisis. Already reeling from economic freefall, the explosion in the Beirut port on the Wednesday 4th of August has levelled parts of the capital and left thousands injured and displaced from their home.

Relief efforts abound, and calls for donations and support are all over social media, including a new initiative organised by Róisín Tapponi, Hisham Fageeh and Tina Sayegh. The Artist Fundraiser 4 Beirut is bringing together over 40 Arab artists in a 24-hour livestream to raise funds for Beirut-based charities providing relief in the capital. The livestream will start Wednesday August 12th, at 6PM Beirut time, and will end Thursday evening.

Featuring an extensive list of contributing artists, the current roster includes Radio Al Hara, Lifta Volumes, Sophia al-Maria, ISSAM, Lamia Joreige, Cherien Dabis, Sulaïman Majali, Kareem Lotfy, Ala Younis, Sarah Haras, Pam Nasr, Kerning Cultures, Alya Mooro, Mary Jirmanus Saba, Urok Shirhan, Mays Albeik, Parvané, Hussein Oldyungmayn, Moza Almatrooshi, Rama Ghanem, Lizzy Vartanian Collier, Myriam Rey, Firas Shehadeh, Reman Sadani, Basil Alrawi, and many more.
