Rap of the Week | Jan 27 - Feb 2
This week, we have picks from rap heavyweights like Tagne, ElGrandeToto, Snor and more.
Over the past week, the region’s hip-hop scene has been flooded with fresh new releases, predominantly in the North Africa region, with a surge of new sounds and collaborations coming out of Egypt.
In this edition of Rap of the Week, the SceneNoise team rounds up the tracks that have been dominating our office playlist. The playlist features Sudanese heavyweight Tagne making a comeback with a hard-hitting trap release, ‘Static’, Moroccan rap star Snor comes through with a gritty cut ‘Mab9ach’, and TIG, Niro and ElGrandeToto delivering a cypher-enducing drop, ‘On Y Est’.
Meanwhile, in Egypt, rising producer Keen debuts a star-studded collaborative EP, ‘The Hidden Agenda’, featuring various regional artists and rappers across genres, including The Synaptik, Hady Moamer, MOND, and Abo El Anwar, to name a few. Rapper and producer Hady Moamer links up with Anonymous artist ZAF on ‘7 Gram’, while Yonyo and 3ab3az link up with producer Hatembas on a shaabi-tinged trap track, ‘Fateen W Misho’.
