Zilzal, a Palestinian-bred multi-dimensional project, has recently released their first compilation album ‘Zilzal’z Sonic Ceremony’. The VA is an amalgamation of experimental soundscapes, encompassing influences from various genres, from breaks, drum n bass and jungle to ambient and hip-hop.

The compilation features 17 artists and DJs from across the globe, including Asifeh, D3MOR, Nour Sokhon, Thomas Hell, Mama Matrix and Sainte Marina, just to name a few.

Zilzal was initially created as a sound platform, aiming to amplify and connect diverse sound identities across borders. In May 2024, Zilzal hosted its first Sonic Ceremony gathering in Cala Fou near Barcelona. An assembly in the reverence and presence of sound, Zilzal’s Sonic Ceremony brought together more than 20 local and international artists to present a series of DJ sets and live performances over the course of three days, along with multiple exhibitions and installations.

This compilation is a continuation of Zilzal’s sonic ceremony works, with all proceeds from the record to be donated to various charities and organisations like the Lebanese Red Cross, the Sudanese Diaspora Network, The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) Gaza Orphan Sponsorship Initiative, and DR Congo’s Save The Children.

‘Zilzal’z Sonic Ceremony’ VA premiered on Zilzal’s monthly show on Radio Al Hara, and it will be released in limited edition cassettes soon. Zilzal is also set to host a release party for the record in Barcelona at FOC on December 7th.
