Egyptian artist Hoda Sherbeeny has returned with ‘3agabak Gheyabak?’, leaning further into the introspective strain of dark pop she began exploring on recent releases ‘Nafs El Hala2’ and ‘Kadabeen’.
Produced, mixed and mastered by Karim Enzo, the track unfolds over eerie, minimalist production that threads together alternative R&B textures, warped pop sensibilities and heavy melancholia. Lyrically, Hoda sits with longing, resentment and the creeping self-doubt that lingers in the aftermath of a breakup, framing imposter syndrome less as a metaphor and more as emotional residue.
Set against ambient, slightly detuned synth pads, Hoda delivers husky vocals that mostly linger in a mid-to-low register, sidestepping theatrics in favour of emotional fatigue and quiet vulnerability. The subtle use of reverb and delay reinforces the song’s sense of absence, with her lyrics unfolding like an unresolved conversation with a former lover.
Directed by Nour Eraky, the accompanying music video mirrors the track’s emotional rawness through stripped-back visuals centred entirely around Hoda in a dimly lit bedroom. Intimate close-up shots heighten the feeling of isolation, turning the video into an extension of the song’s inward gaze.
