Grave Jones Weaves Beauty from Melancholy on 'Away From You'

If the name Rabih Salloum rings a bell, it’s because he spent the turn of the last decade dominating the global indie-electro circuit. As the frontman of Slutterhouse, Salloum earned massive international acclaim - and even once heralded as MTV Iggy’s Best New Artist, touted as "better than Daft Punk and Justice combined," catching the eye of Duran’s Andy Taylor.

Following two acclaimed albums and a relentless touring schedule that hit major festivals from Liverpool Sound City to Ibiza alongside acts like the Klaxons and Sleigh Bells, Slaughterhouse disbanded in 2012. However, to this day, Salloum is still heavily embedded in the scene, currently slinging guitars on tour with Lebanese blues-rock rousers The Wanton Bishops.

Under his solo moniker, Grave Jones, Salloum returns with a new single, ‘Away From You’, successfully bridging two disparate halves of his sonic identity. The track is a compelling blend of the sleek, electronic synthesiser world of his Slutterhouse days and the raw, heavy, guitar-driven rock of his youth. But what makes the song even more distinctive is Salloum’s incomparable songwriting. The lyricism is anchored by his trademark catchy melodies, but they are wrapped in a heavy blanket of nostalgic fuzz and melancholia. It is an insightful evolution of an artist who knows exactly how to make you want to dance while simultaneously tearing your heart apart.
