La Fete de la Musique 2018 Brings Diverse Music to a Diverse Crowd
Since its inception in 1982, the Fête de la Musique has been building cultural pathways between France and 120 different countries.
The 2018 edition of la Fete de la Musique, organized by the French Institute of Cairo, reaffirms the fact that good music for free in a public space is rarely anything but good, and that especially here in Egypt, we should strive to activate more of this. The evening took place at Al-Azhar park, featuring local artists and winners of the Mounirat El Fan competition, Ali Baghdadi and Shereen Abdo, alongside local favorites Hawas, French oriental rock band Al-Qasar, and French electronic duo Acid Arab. The fete brought out an impressively diverse and beautiful mix of people, a true representative of Cairo’s population; native, ex-pat and immigrant alike.
