Yasmine Hamdan & More Soundtrack ‘Life Support’ Gaza Documentary
Directed by Daniele Rugo, award-winning documentary ‘Life Support’ follows a team of medics operating in Gaza amid the genocide.
The original soundtrack for the award-winning Gaza documentary ‘Life Support’ has been released, featuring 13 tracks by regional and international artists, co-curated by Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja and Palestinian composer Habib Shehada Hanna.
Directed by Daniele Rugo and narrated by ‘Andor’ actress Denise Gough, the documentary follows a team of medics working in Gaza under unspeakable conditions for two years. During this time, they inadvertently serve as independent witnesses to the realities of the genocide, given the ban imposed by the Israeli occupation on international journalists entering the territory.
Released through Del Naja’s Battle Box label, the 13-track record avoids sounding like a standard movie score. Instead, it functions as a diverse cross-cultural canvas, featuring previously released tracks such as Lebanese singer-songwriter Yasmine Hamdan’s ‘Thirteen Kilometres’, Siba and Monkyman’s ‘Dounana’, 47 Soul’s ‘Ya Khalo’ and Massar Egbari’s ‘Ana Mawgoud’. The tracklist also includes a remix of Kneecap’s collaboration with Fawzi, ‘Palestine’.
Del Naja’s own contributions, including the atmospheric ‘House Of Healing’ and a stark remix of Kneecap’s collaboration with rapper Fawzi, ‘Palestine’, anchor the collection in a heavy, reflective mood. Yet the standout achievement is how the album centres Middle Eastern voices without treating them as mere exotic flourishes.
All profits from the physical vinyl editions go directly to Health Workers 4 Palestine, turning artistic solidarity into concrete, front-line medical aid.
