From a genre that had never seen radio time, a sound that was looked down upon and reserved for niche enthusiasts with boxes of West Coast mix-tapes collecting dust in their parent's house to an all-encompassing behemoth movement that has infiltrated every party from shaabi weddings to upper class roof-top nightclubs, that is in every single advert and tops every social media and streaming platform's trending charts - Arabic rap, in particular in Egypt has become the biggest musical, or even cultural shift since mahragant took over a decade ago, and it looks like it's here to stay.

Egypt's rap game now is at a boiling point. After the meteoric rise to fame of artists like Abyusif, Marwan Pablo, Wegz and Marwan Moussa whose massive cult-like followings have garnered them multi-million pound deals, a whole new generation of rappers are breaking through the noise and racking up the listens with eyes on becoming the next superstar rapper.

Over the course of the last few months #SceneNoise has delved deep into the stories of 8 of these breakthrough artists, providing an insight into one of the most chaotic and exciting scenes in the region from beefs and branding to entourages and origins. This is 8 Bars.
