Jeddah-based indie record label Wall of Sound is about to launch their 'Magarrat' mini-festival in Alexandria and Cairo on October 3rd and the 4th.
With space-themed sets, the 'Magarrat' series gives each act their own ‘planet’ showcasing their individual sounds, aesthetic and characters to build a whole galaxy of alternative musical experiences. The interstellar festival will treat pop-rockers to back-to-back performances from both established and emerging Egyptian, Saudi, Bahraini, and Jordanian acts.
The festival's first destination spotlights the atmospheres of seven planetary bands: Alexandria's Jesuit Cultural Center will host Nomarch, Machine Eat Man, Dirty Backseat, Majaz, Fulana and Albaitil Ashwai in a four-hour set. Meanwhile in Cairo, Zamalek’s Sawy Culturewheel will welcome the same lineup plus Hawas for a longer six-hour intergalactic voyage.
Continuing through Saudi Arabia and Jordan in 2024, the ‘Magarrat’ journey enables Wall of Sound to highlight the kaleidoscopic talent within the MENA underground.
Wall of Sound has quickly become one of the most established independent record labels in the region since its launch in 2020, with over 25 up-and-coming and established artists spanning a variety of genres including El-Waili, Fulana, Albaitil Ashwai, Samar Tarek, and Dirty Backseat among its diverse roster.
Tickets are free for the Alexandria concert, while tickets for the Cairo concert cost EGP 200. Both shows start at 6:00 PM.
