Niloo Revives 70s Iranian Pop Nostalgia on Dreamy New Single ‘Nessa’

There’s a cinematic stillness to Niloo’s new single ‘Nessa’—like stepping into a sun-drenched frame of a long-lost Iranian film. The Victoria-based singer, musician, and visual artist draws from pre-revolution Iranian pop, western psych, and dreamy sounds to build a sound that feels simultaneously faraway and deeply personal.

Dropping May 2nd as a preview to her upcoming LP ‘Sour Cherry’, ‘Nessa’ is a slow, glowing track full of melodic swells and vintage haze. Niloo’s voice floats over layers of warmth, echoing with the bittersweet beauty of diaspora memory. Her lyrical world is one of longing and layered identity—honouring her Iranian-Canadian roots while reaching across time and borders.
