The MJLS, a community platform dedicated to spotlighting regional talents, will host its first-ever live event with an all-MENA line-up at Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles on July 2nd.
Originally established in as a podcast hosted by Omani-American Hip-Hop/R&B singer and songwriter Emaan, and produced by independent label Wealthcare Records, The MJLS is expanding into an event series with its inaugural live show in LA, featuring a diverse range of regional talents.
“The MJLS Live was born as an in-person extension of the podcast’s goal where there is no sole focus on a headliner, but rather an equal opportunity for all the artists to perform, showcase their talents and build a meaningful connection with a global audience,” Karla Haddad, Co-founder of the MJLS Live and head of Wealthcare Records’ events, tells SceneNoise.
The event will feature enigmatic duo Emaan & Vibeztheprod, Boston-based Sudanese songstress Nadine El Roubi with her powerful vocals and poignant songwriting, and LA-based Egyptian artist Kamel with his dynamic blend of hip/hop and electronic music. Meanwhile, Jasmine Kazempoor aka DJ Nazzy will make some magic on the deck with her infectious beats and expertly mixed tracks. “With this lineup, we aim to capture some of the most exciting emerging artists in the MENA music scene,” Haddad tells SceneNoise. “Every artist featured has cultivated a sound uniquely inspired by their heritage and reflective of their own artistry.”
Since its inception in 2022, the MJLS podcast has been providing regional artists with a safe space to speak candidly about their social and cultural struggles, experiences and influence on their communities, hosting the likes of Big Hass and Nadine El Roubi. “The goal of the MAJLS podcast was to create a comfortable and intimate setting where creatives can gather to connect and tell their own story on their terms,” Haddad says. “We hope to expand our programming to include other community-building events, such as outdoor picnics, Arabic music club nights and more.”
Doors open at 6:30PM, and you can buy your tickets through the link in the MJLS’ instagram bio.
