The Lick Record Store in Beirut is set to host Analog Africa, the celebrated label that has spent the past decade unearthing explosive foot-shufflers and hypnotic sauntering treasures from Africa. Through its 54 releases, Analog Africa has become a trailblazer in celebrating the rich and diverse heritage of an often overlooked continent.
Samy Ben Redjeb, founder of Analog Africa, has devoted himself to discovering authentic, eye-opening choice records. His passion for crate digging has taken him on a journey from a Life Aquatic sojourn as a diving instructor in Senegal to a stint as a Lufthansa flight attendant crisscrossing the Lagos-Addis Ababa-Accra arc and beyond.
Analog Africa's releases span a range of genres, including Afro-beat, highlife, funk, disco, soukous, and other regional styles. The label showcases music from as far as Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cameroon, and many more.
On July 21st, Beirut’s K.E.D rooftop will come alive with soul-stirring beats and raw energy as Analog Africa shows off its immersive visual experience.
For those who thought African music started and finished with Fela Kuti and Afrobeat, this event will be an experience of discovery. You can purchase tickets for the event through ilhoz’s website.
