Jeena Debuts Ambient Trance EP ‘Light Codes’ on Intercept Records
The Palestinian-Canadian producer expands on her ongoing exploration of how music can reshape space and memory, transforming the dancefloor into a space for spiritual and sensory exploration.
As a composer, sound therapy practitioner, and founder of the neuroacoustic platform Aurras, Jeena approaches electronic music with a singular vision, harnessing specific sound frequencies and vibrations to craft immersive, almost therapeutic sonic landscapes. The Palestinian-Canadian producer has carved a distinctive niche at the intersection of ambient, trance, and techno, transforming the dancefloor into a space for spiritual and sensory exploration.
Her latest offering, Light Codes, released on the Netherlands-based label and collective, Intercept, arrives as a project centered on conscious listening. Marking her debut on the Dutch imprint, the project spans five tracks, each navigating the subtle complexities of ambient trance and techno. The lead single, 'Energetic Field', pulses with deep spiritual techno tinged with a sharp acidic edge, creating a meditative groove that sustains over its four-minute runtime. Drawing from her expertise in sound therapy and ritual performance, Jeena constructs worlds of spiraling synths and resonant basslines, inviting listeners to surrender fully to rhythm and vibration, treating sound itself as a form of healing.
Other tracks, like ‘Indigo’ and ‘Star Seed’, lean into lush ambient textures and dreamy, psychedelic textures, evoking a sensation of levitating through an alternate universe of harmony, cultivating a sense of introspection, and inviting moments of self-reflection amidst the enveloping waves of sound.
Light Codes serves as a window into Jeena’s sonic identity, where she expands her ongoing exploration of how music can reshape space, memory and community, offering a reminder that quality electronic music doesn’t necessarily have to be limited to the dancefloor or the club.
