In celebration of International Women’s Day, MDLBEAST’s HUNNA initiative is joining forces with Merwas, the largest music Audio & Visual Production Company in the MENA region, to host its first physical listening circle in Riyadh on March 4th.
The listening circle is a group session which will run for an hour and a half, featuring a series of interactive activities and workshops for regional female talents. The day will also feature a panel discussion moderated by Saudi singer-songwriter and HUNNA ambassador, Nourah Al Ammary, exploring the challenges and opportunities for women in the MENA music industry. The panel’s speakers feature Nada Al-Tuwaijri, Co-founder and CEO of Merwas, Elham Ghanimah, Riyadh-based drummer and artist manager, and Gigi Arabia, artist manager, founder and CEO of Heavy Arabia Entertainment. Meanwhile, there will be live performances by HUNNA’s community members including Saudi-based indie singer Fulana, and rising DJ Dorar.
Launched in 2023, HUNNA, a moniker derived from the Arabic plural of ‘She’, is a female-led XP initiative on a mission to amplify regional female talents, through a series of matchmaking and networking events. The initiative offers one-on-one mentorship programmes for aspiring female artists, and listening circles, where women in the MENA music industry can connect and exchange knowledge. HUNNA also hosts physical gatherings that provide mentees with an opportunity to put their learnings into practice.
The event will run from 7 PM to 10 PM. You can now register to attend HUNNA’s Women’s Day Gathering through the link in XP Music Futures’ Instagram bio. Here.
