Dubai House Movement: Fresh Sounds & Safe Spaces in UAE

Dubai’s nightlife is known for its spectacle—big venues, big names, and a club culture often built around VIP tables and bottle service. But Lynn Kakhia, aka DJ Off Kourse, is on a mission to shake things up. With over a decade in the industry, she recently launched Dubai House Movement (DHM)—an initiative dedicated to creating a more inclusive, community-driven house music scene in the city.

“DHM is all about curating experiences that feel different from the usual club scene,” she explains. “We focus on the music, the energy, and the people—creating a space where house music lovers can connect, dance, and just enjoy the moment without distractions.”

At its core, DHM is a pushback against the formulaic nature of Dubai’s club circuit, where commercial edits dominate the airwaves. “There’s a formula that promoters follow, pushing a sound that caters to bottle service culture rather than the true essence of house music,” Off Kourse says. “We want to go back to the roots—deep, raw, and soulful house music, with a community of like-minded people who are here to really listen and connect.”

Beyond just throwing parties, DHM is about education, mentorship, and redefining what nightlife can look like. “A big part of this is re-educating people on what house music actually is—not just what’s being pushed by the mainstream scene here,” she says. As a brand ambassador for Pioneer DJ, she’s taking this vision further by leading workshops to support the next wave of DJs and artists.

And this is just the beginning. “Right now, we’re focused on solidifying our foundation in Dubai, but the bigger picture includes cross-cultural exchanges, regional showcases, and maybe even a festival one day… who knows?”

One thing’s for sure: DHM isn’t just another party—it’s a movement, and it’s only getting started.
