Drake Samples Fairouz’s Classic ‘Wahdon’ in His New Album ‘ICEMAN’
In quintessential Drizzy fashion, the remix flips the track’s original production into a moody lo-fi cut, weaving in stuttering drums and glittery hi-hats beneath Fairuz’s haunting vocals.

Global hip-hop icon Drake has been building momentum towards his forthcoming album ‘Iceman’ with a trail of cinematic livestreams on YouTube packed with easter eggs and previews of the tracklist. His latest installment of the series, ‘ICEMAN Episode 3’, features an unexpected interlude composition, where he samples Fairuz’s iconic classic ‘Wahdon’. The Canada-native uses stuttering drums and glittery hi-hats beneath Fairuz’s haunting vocals to create a moody lo-fi sound.
The third episode of Iceman gives fans a glimpse into the unseen parts of Drake’s widely publicised beef with Kendrick Lamar. Building on Episodes 1 and 2, which teased tracks like ‘What Did I Miss?’ and ‘Which One’, the new livestream previews two more unreleased songs: ‘Somebody Loves Me Pt.2’ with Cash Cobain, and a Yeat collaboration featuring Julia Wolf.
‘Wahdon’ was originally released in 1979, penned by poet Talal Haidar and composed by the late Lebanese legend Ziad Rahbani. It touches on themes of betrayal and distress, reflecting on friendships lost over time and the emotional void they leave behind.
