Syrian-Born Hip-Hop Beatsmith ILLADIB Releases New Lo-Fi Track ‘Don’t:forget’
Lo-fi hip-hop is far from dead. Exhibit A: Turkey-based Syrian producer and appreciator hip-hop in all of its offshoots and sub-genres, ILLADIB, and his latest release - a track that’s very much of two halves.
Following his previous track, ’NZ7A,’ alongside rapper, ALMUعَARRI, this latest release by Istanbul-based but Syrian-born producer ILLADIB is a slower, moodier and allround downbeat track, in contrast to the aggressive trap-tinged sound of its predecessor.

‘Don’t:forget’ opens over mellow, reverb soaked chords, a steady boom-bap rhythm, and a fat, distorted analog bassline. Around the midpoint of the song, ILLADIB switches things up, speeding up the drums and percussion, bringing the bass to the foreground, and introducing a downpitched acapella sample.
Despite the track’s short length, ILLADIB keeps things fresh by constantly switching in and out different elements of the beat, making ‘Don’t:forget’ almost like two tracks in one.
