Quietly announced earlier this week via 100copies label boss Mahmoud Refaat’s instagram, Sadat’s 1/2 (with Ahmed Nafee) is an explosive return to form for the artist, and follows up his previous release جت سليمة with Karwan.

Guided by a wonky, detuned synthesizer, 1/2 features Sadat and collaborator Ahmed Nafee below blisteringly fast auto-tuned verses over a earth-stomping mahraganat beat. Spitting vitriolic acid at their competitors, Sadat and Nafee spend no time reminding critics and contemporaries who the top two spots in the game really belong to.

For better or worse, it seems like there's only room for one top dog in Egypt’s mahraganat scene, and Sadat certainly isn't afraid to jump back into the ring, with eyes firmly locked on the crown.
