The Tehran-based hip-hop producer Mez’Rab’s sixth release of the year samples fellow Irani artist Keynaz’s acclaimed ballad ’Shakheh Va Bolbol’, giving it a new sonic profile in line with his signature abstract, bass-focused style heard on earlier releases.
While the original mix of the song was an emotional, melodically led tune that centered predominantly on Keynaz’s vocals alongside piano and synthesizers, Mez’rab’s remix contorts ‘Shakheh Va Bolbol’ into a dark, percussion focused tune that brings shuffling hi-hats and thumping kick drums into play amongst a chopped-and-screwed version of the original track, forming a formidable barrage of sound on listener’s ears.
