Ahmed Yaseen, aka Al Hattab, aka Al Sumarai Al Sabeaa, aka Jordanian rapper, Satti, is very much a student of hip-hop and it shows in his latest track, ‘Forever Ever’. Produced by Big Murk, with cuts by DJ Ramy O, the song is something of an ode to the hip-hop game that the Irbid native has been so entrenched in since the 90s.

While trap-inspired hip-hop is the en vogue thing across the Middle East right now, there’s something to be said for this type of old-school, classic hop-hop production. The soul-inspired piano melody, a break dedicated to some record scratching and the faint sound of a second layer of vocals playing the part of hype-man – this is hip-hop in its purest form for those of us who got hooked on it in the mid-to-late 90s/early 2000s. Having first emerged on the scene in the early 2010s, Satti has always had soft spot for this kind of rich and raw turntablist style of hip-hop and it comes as a breath of fresh air against the backdrop of more experimental rap in the region. 'Forever Ever' is just the latest in a string of tracks put out by the founder of online performance project,
The Closet Sessions, and production house, Mama’s Productions. Check out more here.
